# The Constitutional Court has agreed to hear the EFF’s application to set aside Parliament’s decision not to refer president Cyril Ramaphosa to an impeachment committee over the Phala Phala scandal. In December 2022 the National Assembly rejected a motion to refer the section 89 panel report and its recommendations to an impeachment committee. The panel found that Ramaphosa may have committed a serious violation of the Constitution relating to the alleged theft of foreign currency at his farm in Limpopo. He allegedly concealed the robbery.

Azapo’s spokesperson, Jabu Rakwena, says the country needs a smooth transition into the seventh administration:
# The human rights organisation #Africa4Palestine says it is saddened at the deadly alleged Islamophobic attack on a Durban family. A woman was stabbed to death while her husband and son were left critically injured at their home in Umbilo. The ten-year-old daughter, who was not injured, told police that the assailant said he was attacking the family because they supported Palestine. A man has been arrested and charged with murder and two attempted murders. #Africa4Palestine says this attack is part of a failing and desperate attempt to silence pro-Palestinian voices in the country violently.
# The City of Tshwane’s mayoral committee member for Finance, Jacqui Uys, will today deliver the 2024/2025 financial year budget speech. The metro faces various challenges including tight fiscal pressures, access to potable water, electricity, housing and high unemployment. Mayor Cilliers Brink says the budget is geared towards maintaining financial stability while improving basic service delivery:

The national team is preparing for World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria in Uyo on Friday and Zimbabwe in Bloemfontein next Tuesday. Six Sundowns players reported for camp yesterday with injuries. Broos has acknowledged Sundowns’ punishing schedule in 2023-2024, competing across six competitions and racking up 57 matches, has taken its toll on players:
