# Tens of thousands rally in Tel Aviv on second day of temporary truce

# Police are warning parents about online child sexual predators as the country prepares to observe 16 days of activism for no violence against women and children. Parents are urged to monitor their children’s devices, such as tablets and phones, on a daily basis. They should install parental software apps that can block harmful content. Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says these predators even lure children through online computer games and parents must be extra vigilant:
# Minister of Transport Sindisiwe Chikunga will officially launch the 2023/2024 festive season road safety campaign at Tsakane Stadium in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, today. The world commemorates the Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims today to acknowledge sufferers of road traffic crashes and their families as adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2005. The Road Traffic Management Corporation’s spokesperson, Simon Zwane, says the focus of this year’s campaign is on the impact of alcohol on road user behavior and its contribution to the carnage:
# An estimated 100-thousand people demonstrated in Tel Aviv, Israel, yesterday, to call for the release of all captives held by Hamas. It happened on the second day of a temporary truce between the Palestinian group and Israel. The demonstrators gathered on what has become known to Israelis as “Hostages Square”. The event also marked 50 days since the 7 October attack by Hamas on southern Israel, in which about one-thousand-200 people died.
Central London was also packed with tens of thousands of people who demanded a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. They say the current pause brings little respite after an estimated 15-thousand Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks.
# Golf: Thriston Lawrence earned a three-stroke lead going into today’s final round of the Joburg Open at Houghton Golf Club. Lawrence signed for a third round of 67 to climb to 15 under par overall, as he seeks to claim a second Joburg Open title following his win in 2021. His nearest challenger is Dean Burmester on 12 under after he signed for a 68, while Jacques Kruyswijk and Nikhil Rama are well placed on 11 under par after respective rounds of 69 and 72.
# And finally: The director-general of the World Health Organisation Tedros Ghebreyesus says climate change is already harming human health and wellbeing. From illnesses caused by extreme climate events, to the increased incidence of vector-borne diseases and the rise in cardiovascular and respiratory diseases caused by extreme heat and air pollution respectively, the impact of climate on human health are inescapable. Ghebreyesus says only climate policies driven by health outcomes will result in the action needed to save lives, prevent disease and build healthier, fairer societies.
