# Airlink has suspended its flights to and from Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal following the downgrading of the airport and its fire and rescue service capability. The South African Civil Aviation Authority says this disqualifies the airport from accommodating commercial airline operations. Airlink has emphasized the economic importance of the route and has expressed its intention to resume flights once the restrictions are lifted.
# US president Joe Biden says Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu’s approach to the war in Gaza is “hurting Israel more than helping it”. He gave his opinion in an interview with MSNBC yesterday. Biden says Netanyahu has a right to defend Israel and to continue to pursue Hamas, but warns the Israeli leader should pay more attention to the innocent lives being lost as a consequence of the actions taken.
# Rugby: After a string of less impressive results since their Dubai victory, SA Rugby is considering a coaching reshuffle for the Blitzboks, reports News24. Head coach Sandile Ngcobo will most probably make way for his assistant Philip Snyman for the remaining three events in the World Sevens Series. The Blitzboks are seventh on the World Sevens Series table, with three stops, Hong Kong, Singapore and Madrid remaining this season. They need a backdoor qualification to the Olympics via the repechage in Monaco in June, and SA Rugby would want to make sure that chance is not missed.
# And, a record-breaking 70 cyclists, led by Stellenbosch University’s Rector and Vice-Chancellor, Wim de Villiers, are participating in the Cape Town Cycle Tour today. This is the 46th edition of the biggest timed bicycle race in the world, with more than 30-thousand cyclists participating. De Villiers says they aim to raise at least five-thousand-rand each for Move-for-Food initiative, as part of the university’s Bridge the Gap fundraising campaign to aid hungry students struggling with food insecurity on campus:
