Good morning. I am……..
In this bulletin:
# It’s D-day for ANC members who hold dual membership with the SACP
# Activists and Citizens say ANC Parliament members have sold out the values, principles and mission of the party
# And, Donald Trump calls the latest proposal from Iran “totally unacceptable”
# Today is D-day for all ANC members holding dual membership with the SACP to report back to the party’s Secretariat on whether they will be campaigning for the ANC or the SACP for the local government elections. This follows the SACP’s decision to contest the elections independently. The party rejected the ultimatum last month, describing it as an attempt to intimidate members and undermine the alliance. It told its members to ignore the directive. ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula has warned that members who fail to adhere to the directive will face disciplinary action.
# Activists and Citizens Forum says the ANC members of Parliament have sold out the values, principles and mission of the party. Forum spokesperson, Dennis Bloem, says the Constitutional Court judgment on President Cyril Ramaphosa Phala Phala scandal is once more proof that the ANC does not have any respect for the Constitution of the country or Parliamentary processes:
# Gauteng Economic Development MEC, Vuyiswa Ramokgopa, says the release of the report by the Gauteng Liquor Board Committee of Inquiry marks the beginning of a broader process to restore integrity, accountability, and public trust within the board. The report reveals serious governance failures within the Gauteng Liquor Board, including irregular issuing of liquor licences, corruption, and collusion with unregulated consultants. Ramokgopa says unlawful liquor trading and weak governance have undermined both public safety and economic transformation:
# US president Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s response to the recent peace proposal, calling it “totally unacceptable”. Tehran submitted its response on Sunday, which reportedly includes an immediate end to the war and a halt to a US naval blockade. The US proposal includes a suspension of Iranian nuclear enrichment and restoring free transit through the Strait of Hormuz. US ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz told ABC that America has a very clear red line in its latest proposal:
# Tennis: World number three, Poland’s Iga Swiatek, has reached the fourth round of the Italian Open. The two-time winner thrashed Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto, 6-1, 6-0. She will face Japan’s Naomi Osaka next, who defeated Russia’s Diana Shnaider, 6-1, 6-2. There were also wins for Kazakhstani Elena Rybakina and American Jessica Pegula. In the men’s draw, Croatian Dino Prizmic followed up his victory against Novak Djokovic by beating France’s Ugo Humbert 6-1, 7-5 to reach the last 16. Spaniard, Rafael Jodar, held off Italian wild card Matteo Arnaldi, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-43-cents and the euro at 19-rand-32-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-33-cents, and Bitcoin trades at 80-thousand-679-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-687-dollars-42-cents a fine ounce, and Brent crude oil is quoted at 103-dollars-41-cents a barrel.
