Speaking at the 112th birthday celebrations in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, Ramaphosa highlighted what he deemed significant positive changes in the country compared to the apartheid era. He emphasised the progress made over the past 30 years, stating today’s South Africa is a vastly improved version. Ramaphosa says the party’s 112th anniversary is an opportune time to celebrate the nation’s achievements while continuing efforts to unite the country:
Ramaphosa also announced the launch of a new ANC crowdfunding initiative. During a gala dinner in Mpumalanga, Ramaphosa detailed that the initiative invites supporters to donate to the ANC. He emphasises, the funds raised will play a crucial role in enhancing the party’s financial sustainability and self-sufficiency:

# Taiwan’s president-elect Lai Ching-te has vowed to defend the self-ruled island from what he calls, “intimidation” by China. Voters defied warnings from Beijing and swept him to election victory, securing an unprecedented third consecutive term for the Democratic Progressive Party. Reuters reports Beijing, which before the poll called Lai a severe danger and urged voters to shun him, said yesterday the result would not stop the inevitable trend of China’s reunification.
# And cricket: A century from Rassie van der Dussen and 98 from fellow opener Ryan Rickelton led M-I Cape Town to a total of 243 for five and victory by 98 runs in their SA20 match against the Joburg Super Kings at the Wanderers in Johannesburg yesterday. The Super Kings slumped to 145 all out in 17 overs and five balls to hand the visitors a bonus point victory.
