# Parliament’s Impeachment Committee has filed its responding affidavit opposing the legal challenge by the EFF and the African Legal Professionals Association over the committee’s decision to rescind its recommendation of advocate Thandazani Madonsela as evidence leader. Last month, the EFF and African Legal Professionals Association filed separate applications in the Western Cape High Court challenging the committee’s decision, arguing there was no legal basis for it. Committee chairperson Makashule Gana says the legal challenge is premature:

Sudan has been engulfed in a war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces since April 2023, killing tens of thousands of people and triggering one of the world’s largest displacement crises. Ibrahim told the United Nations General Assembly that Sudanese people must determine their own future, while reaffirming openness to any sincere and constructive effort aimed at ending the war.
# Motorsport: Reigning Formula One world champion Lando Norris has apologised to Franco Colapinto for comments he made after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Colapinto caused an accident at the Baku City Circuit on Saturday, taking out his Alpine teammate Pierre Gasly and Norris’s McLaren. Speaking after the incident, Norris stated that there are “some drivers that shouldn’t be in F1”, while also suggesting Colapinto should be banned for one race. Norris admits his comments were wrong. Colapinto has a five-place grid penalty for the Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend.
