# A study by the Cape Peninsula University of Technology has revealed that Rooibos tea has significant heart health benefits. Researchers found that regular consumption of Rooibos, especially the green variety, improved cardiovascular function. The study showed reductions in heart size and thickness, key factors in preventing heart disease. The 12-week research involved participants with risk factors for cardiovascular disease, consuming six cups daily. The study states that these results suggest Rooibos could be an effective, natural option for heart health improvement.
# Companies Eskort and Saronsberg Cellar, together with acclaimed South African artist Norman Catherine, have successfully raised two-million-rand for vulnerable children across the country. The funds were generated from the sale of limited edition Liberi wines featuring Catherine’s distinctive artwork on their labels. The money has been donated to the Beeld-Kinderfonds, dedicated to supporting child development projects. The fund’s Adrie van Staden says the money will be distributed to 20 child development projects and will benefit more than eight-thousand underprivileged children.
# Soweto Fashion Week CEO Stephen Manzini will represent South Africa at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit in Moscow this week. The key event for emerging fashion markets, gathers industry leaders, designers, and experts. Discussions include sustainable development, innovation, and cultural heritage. South Africa’s Sun Goddess brand showcases African-inspired designs. Following the summit, Moscow Fashion Week will features top designers, highlighting global fashion trends.
# Oasis is heading to the US, Canada, and Mexico in August and September next year, as part of its reunion tour. After a 15-year hiatus, Liam and Noel Gallagher in August announced Oasis tour dates in the UK and Ireland, which saw tickets being sold out immediately. Oasis was formed in Manchester in 1991 and became one of the most successful of the era, selling about 75-million albums and performing worldwide. Some of their hit albums were Definitely Maybe, Be Here Now, and Don’t Believe the Truth.
# And finally: An 81-year-old model has taken part in a Miss Universe Korea pageant in an attempt to become the world’s oldest Miss Universe contestant. Choi Soon-hwa did not win the crown, but was given the “best dresser” award during the event at a hotel in South Korea’s capital, Seoul. Choi worked in hospital care before beginning a modelling career in her 70s. She says people should look at her and realise you can live healthier and find joy when you challenge yourself to achieve a dream.
