# Platinum Group Metal’s catalysed hydrogen peroxide is providing the world with an opportunity to treat water chemistries that are hard to break down. The biggest benefit of HPGen is that it is green, clean and environmentally protective. Johannesburg-based MatiTech has introduced PGM’s HPGen, enabling the safe and easy on-site manufacture and roll-out of hydrogen peroxide for use in water treatment. MatiTech’s Mike Bowley says this is the future of water treatment, not just in South Africa, but globally.
# The University of the Witwatersrand says since the establishment of the Sappi Chair in Climate Change and Plantation Sustainability, the team has seen a significant difference in the fight against climate change. The team has pioneered research and capacity-building initiatives, that equip the forestry industry to navigate the challenges of climate change. The southern hemisphere’s winter is heralding a forecast of scant rainfall. Wits says the team has also provided insight to the forestry industry on the El Nino impacts and the risk of increased wildfire prevalence.
# And finally: United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres, says countries must confront not just the fossil-fuel industry, but also companies that support efforts to obstruct climate action. He has called on the world’s fossil fuel industries to be banned from advertising, to help save the world from climate change. Guterres says the world must directly confront those in the fossil fuel industry who have shown relentless zeal for obstructing progress:
