# The South African Weather Service has issued a yellow, level two warning for damaging winds in parts of the Western Cape from today until tomorrow. The warning is in place between Saldanha Bay and Cape Agulhas. The spokesperson of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management, Sonica Lategan, says all teams are on standby to deal with any potential impacts:
# South Africa is set to provide a new timeline for the shutdown of coal-fired power plants in a bid to secure 48-billion-rand in climate finance. The timetable to be proposed to the Climate Investment Fund in June aims to ensure the country remains on track to obtain funding under the Just Energy Transition Partnership. The Project Management Unit, which is overseeing the JETP, says what they will present to the fund is an adjustment to the decommissioning plan linked to an emissions target.
# And finally: Independent venture capital fund, AP Ventures, says hydrogen plays an important role in the decarbonisation of the hardest-to-abate sectors of the global economy. In future, hydrogen is earmarked for use in aviation fuels, steel production, transportation and other verticals. AP Ventures’ co-founding partner, Kevin Eggers, says a lot of countries remain committed to the original hydrogen strategies and agendas:
