New policing centre to strengthen Cape Town’s fight against crime [SOUND]

# Cape Town mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says the city’s new policing nerve centre in Goodwood will improve the response to crime. The eight-thousand-square-metre joint public safety operations centre will bring together policing resources and technology, including drones, body cameras, CCTV, number-plate cameras and artificial intelligence. Hill-Lewis added the city now has more than three-thousand-800 officers, while CCTV helped detect over 41-thousand incidents and led to 541 arrests in the past financial year:
