# The National Energy Regulator of South Africa appointed Ria Govender as acting chairperson following the resignation of Thembani Bukula, who stepped down due to health reasons. Her appointment will remain in place until a permanent chairperson is selected. Spokesperson Charles Hlebela says Govender brings more than 29 years of experience in energy policy and regulation; and she held senior roles in government and the electricity sector across South Africa and other African countries.
