# The National Gambling Board is calling on government to urgently address the crisis of young people who continue to experience disproportionately high levels of economic exclusion. The Board’s acting CEO, Lungile Dukwana strongly encourages young South Africans not to view sports betting and other forms of gambling as an alternative pathway to earning an income. He says the organisation’s 2023/24 study on the socio-economic impact of gambling in South Africa reinforces the need for heightened awareness among younger South Africans:
