Mozambican national sentenced to 16 years for copper theft at Rustenburg mine

# The National Prosecuting Authority has welcomed a 16-year sentence handed to Mozambican national John Paipai Sithole by the Tlhabane Regional Court for tampering with essential infrastructure and violating immigration laws. Sithole was caught with stolen copper cables worth over 30-thousand-rand inside Impala Bafokeng Mine in Rustenburg. The court also declared him unfit to possess a firearm. Prosecutors highlighted the severe impact of cable theft on mining operations, production, and job security in affected areas.
