MK Party urges South Africa to take control of its rare earth minerals

# The MK Party says it is concerned that South Africa continues to export its rare earth minerals in raw form, while foreign powers reap the rewards of processing and refining. The country is rich in strategic minerals such as neodymium, dysprosium, cerium and lanthanum. The MK Party says it will table a private member’s bill in Parliament to designate rare earth minerals as strategic national assets under direct custodianship of the state and the people. It adds it also wants the establishment of a Rare Earths Industrialisation Master Plan.
