# The Motor Industry Staff Association is calling for stronger protection of women and children in South African homes, as domestic violence remains a serious problem. According to the union, the latest crime statistics show many rapes and murders happen in domestic settings, with alcohol abuse, toxic masculinity and family conflict driving violence. The association’s Phakamile Hlubi-Majola urged communities to report abuse and support children exposed to violence ahead of Child Protection Week:
