# Western Cape MEC of Mobility, Isaac Sileku, has thanked the province’s traffic officers for their dedication and hard work during the severe weather conditions experienced over the past week. Heavy rain and flooding caused damage to infrastructure and led to several road closures across the province. Sileku says 17 fatal crashes were recorded during the week, resulting in 20 fatalities, including nine pedestrians, six drivers, four passengers, and a motorcyclist:
