# Deputy president Paul Mashatile says the late Ambassador Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu was instrumental in the struggle for liberation and the development and nurturing of South Africa’s democracy. Mashatile delivered a eulogy during the Special Official Funeral for Mahlangu in Middelburg, Mpumalanga. Mahlangu died at the age of 72 on August 24, 2025, in hospital after a short illness.
