# Deputy president Paul Mashatile has called on all South Africans and stakeholders to collaborate in protecting and maintaining public infrastructure built by government. He emphasised that preserving existing facilities from vandalism and neglect is just as critical as building new ones, with community ownership central to ensuring sustainable service delivery. The deputy president says government has also initiated the Water Services Infrastructure Grant to tackle localised water issues, reduce infrastructure backlogs, and enhance water and sanitation services in rural and underserved areas.
