# The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate says an alarming 40-thousand-and-60-kilograms of solid waste was extracted from Manenberg’s sewer system during July and August this year. The solid waste was made up largely of rags, wet wipes, sanitary towels and nappies. Mayoral committee member for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, says sewer blockages and overflows pose serious health and environmental risks:
