MANCOSA calls for more pathways into tertiary education

# MANCOSA is warning that South Africa’s tertiary education system may not have enough capacity to accommodate growing numbers of qualifying matric learners. MANCOSA’s Director and Chief Academic Officer, Zaheer Hamid, says public institutions are receiving applications that exceed available places, leaving some academically eligible students without opportunities to study. He says accredited private institutions can help expand access through flexible learning models. Hamid is calling for greater collaboration, student financial support and streamlined regulation to create more pathways into tertiary education.
