# The Johannesburg Metro Police Department has restricted the use of its vehicles to essential operations amid serious fuel shortages linked to unpaid bills. In a directive issued by JMPD chief Patrick Jaca, officers have been instructed to return vehicles to their stations after every shift, as fuel cards have been blocked and service stations have withdrawn credit facilities. Officers have also been prohibited from using their own money to refuel vehicles.
