# The Johannesburg Metro Police Department has arrested 252 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol in a single week, as part of intensified road safety operations across the city. The arrests were made during roadblocks and stop-and-search operations across Johannesburg, Sandton, Soweto and Midrand. JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla has reiterated the department’s zero-tolerance stance on drunk driving, urging motorists to use e-hailing services or designated sober drivers if they consume alcohol:
