# Eastern Cape Transport and Community Safety MEC, Xolile Nqatha, has condemned the illegal shutdown organised by the Mdantsane East London Taxi Association this morning. Taxi drivers have blocked roads in multiple locations across the region, with the reason for the strike unknown at this stage. The department’s spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, says scholar transport has been affected with many learners left stranded at various pick-up points:
