# The Department of Home Affairs has dismissed five more officials with immediate effect for offences including fraud and sexual assault. This brings the total dismissals to 38 between July 2024 and July 2025. Eight have been sentenced to prison, while 19 face ongoing prosecution. The move follows last month’s bust of a Durban passport syndicate. Minister Leon Schreiber says the department is committed to rooting out corruption, warning that the days of abusing the system with impunity, are over.
