Government targets screen exposure for children aged 2 to 6 year old

# The Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube, announced plans in Parliament to introduce advisory national screen-time guidelines for children aged two to six years old. The policy aims to protect early childhood development by limiting non-educational screen exposure linked to delays in language development, cognition, and social skills. She says the department is also reviewing its e-education white paper and developing AI guidance for classrooms, ensuring teachers remain central while digital tools are used in support of learning.
