# Government is calling on all parents and caregivers to make sure children are fully immunised against the dangerous and highly contagious measles virus. Government says so far this year 379 laboratory-confirmed measles cases and 409 rubella cases were reported by the Measles Reference Laboratory at the National Institute for Communicable Diseases in South Africa. Spokesperson Nokululeko Mtshali says vaccination is the best protection against harmful diseases:
