# Western Cape MEC of Infrastructure Tertuis Simmers says good progress is being made on the emergency slope stabilisation and road repairs on an 11.1-kilometre section of the Franschhoek Pass. Heavy rainfall in October 2023 caused slope failures, erosion, debris buildup, and deterioration of the road and drainage systems. Simmers says so far, this supplementary project has created four-thousand-160 person-days of work and 56 work opportunities:
