# The GOOD Party says the latest Socio-Economic Rights Institute “Food for Thought” report exposes a nation in crisis. The report reveals that one in five households in South Africa experiences inadequate or severely inadequate access to food. Thirty-percent of boys under five are stunted due to chronic undernutrition. GOOD’s secretary general, Brett Herron, says the implementation of a basic income grant of no less than one-thousand-rand per month is desperately needed:
