# The GOOD Party says the recent surge in the number of gang-related crimes in the Western Cape has led to the police admitting it has no coherent plan to stop it. Last week, the Global Initiative Against Transnational Crime published its quarterly Western Cape Gang Monitor. GOOD’s secretary general, Brett Herron, says it shows the number of deaths more than doubled from 422 in 2020 to 872 in 2024, with the first quarter of this year continuing the upward trend:
