# The GOOD Party says it rejects the DA’s claims that parties helped create financial instability in the Theewaterskloof Municipality, and that the Western Cape Government was forced to intervene in 2024. GOOD’s Weldon Wells says the first attempt to present the 2023/2024 unauthorised expenditure to the Municipal Public Accounts Committee was halted because the committee had composition challenges after its chairperson resigned in June 2024. Wells says a new chairperson was only appointed in November that same year:
