# The George Municipality in the Western Cape says while it is permissible to use third-party vendors to manage and pay traffic fines, the responsibility for ensuring that the fine is fully settled lies with the offender. Recently, a motorist claimed to have paid a fine through a third-party website at a reduced rate. However, the payment was not transferred to the Municipality via the official service provider. The municipality’s spokesperson, Ntobeko Mangqwengqwe, says as a result, the fine remains outstanding in the system:
