# The George Municipality in the Western Cape has appointed Godfrey Louw as the new municipal manager. He has been acting in the position since Michele Gratz’s resignation in October last year, amid investigations into the George building collapse that killed 34 workers. The municipality’s spokesperson, Ntobeko Mangqwengqwe, says Louw, a highly experienced and respected public administrator, brings nearly 35 years of local government experience, with over 15 years in senior management roles:
