# Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi will unveil a tamper-proof, smart number plate system today at Nasrec Expo Centre. The new plates feature forensic QR codes, tamper-evident decals, and a digitised back-end portal to combat vehicle theft, fraud, and cloning. G-Fleet vehicles will pilot the system over six months before a full rollout. The initiative aims to enhance road safety, streamline law enforcement, and support interoperability in the Southern African Development Community. Road Traffic Management Corporation officers will also assist to boost enforcement efforts.
