# The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport is seeking additional funding from the provincial Treasury to rehabilitate sinkholes affecting the R500 and R563 roads near Krugersdorp. Preliminary assessments indicated that over 80-percent of the road surface had caved in along the section of the R500, making it extremely unsafe. The department’s spokesperson, Lesiba Mpya, says the funding will also cover technical and geotechnical investigations required to determine appropriate rehabilitation measures:
