# Patient fees at Gauteng public hospitals are expected to rise by up to 4.4-percent from April. This is if the Gauteng Legislature approves the Health Department’s proposed tariffs. Emergency Health Services Standby tariffs could also increase by 30-percent. Individuals with a household income of less than eight-thousand-rand a month requiring an ambulance with advanced life support, will now be charged 170-rand. The department says the new fees will ensure the financial sustainability of the healthcare system.
