# The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Community Safety, together with Gun Free South Africa, are launching the Gun Free Gauteng Campaign today, to combat the growing spread of firearms and gun-related crime. The initiative follows recent deadly shootings, including the Cleveland informal settlement tragedy in Johannesburg where 12 people were killed. The campaign from Jeppe Police Station to Kwa Mai Mai aims to unite communities, in promoting safer neighbourhoods, reducing illegal firearms and raising awareness about the devastating impact of gun violence across the province.
