# The Forum for South Africa is concerned about the increasing involvement of private banks in delivering Smart ID services what is fundamentally a government responsibility. The Home Affairs Department announced that more than 385-thousand Smart ID applications have already been processed through the Digital Partnership with Capitec, Standard Bank and First National Bank. FOSA leader, Tebogo Mashilompane questions whether private banks benefit financially from providing these services. He says government must fully disclose the nature of these agreements:
