# The Freedom Front Plus in Johannesburg has warned mayor, Dada Morero, that the metro’s growing financial burden and crumbling infrastructure are hampering service delivery to residents and ratepayers. The party says the metro has R72-billion-rand in outstanding debt and a shocking 220-billion-rand infrastructure maintenance backlog. FF Plus Franco de Lange says this week, Council is scheduled to consider a proposed budget of 89.4-billion-rand for the 2026/2027 financial year. He says the amount comprises an estimated 81-billion-rand for operating expenditure and 7.5-billion-rand for capital expenditure.
