# The Freedom Front Plus in Gauteng has welcomed the Hawks’ investigation into possible irregularities at City Power in Johannesburg. The crime-fighting unit raided City Power’s Johannesburg headquarters last week. This is part of an investigation into alleged corruption and financial mismanagement involving irregular payments and inflated contracts totalling over 500-million-rand. The FF Plus says City Power has been failing to properly maintain Johannesburg’s electricity network. It adds that it’s not surprising that the Hawks’ preliminary investigation has revealed abnormal and excessive payments made to certain contractors.
