# eThekwini mayor Cyril Xaba and KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC Siboniso Duma have urged the taxi leadership to call off the planned strike and resume services in Clermont and KwaDabeka. Durban taxi operators halted services today, as they embark on a two-day shutdown. This follows weeks of unsuccessful negotiations with the municipality over operational disputes. The mayor’s spokesperson, Mluleki Mntungwa, says taxi operators are demanding the release of impounded vehicles and that the operating licences backlog be addressed:
