# The EFF has welcomed minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Parks Tau’s decision to withdraw the controversial draft amendments to the National Credit Act of 2005. The amendments proposed listing educational institutions as originators of credit information, which could have allowed unpaid student fees to be reported to credit bureaus. The EFF says this retreat by the government is not an act of goodwill by the ANC-DA-led government, but the direct result of sustained pressure by members of society, professionals, and the youth of South Africa.
