# The EFF in Gauteng has selected Itani Edwin Mukwevho as its mayoral candidate for Merafong City Local Municipality, ahead of the November local government elections. He joined the party in 2013 and played an important role in establishing and strengthening the organisation in the West Rand. The EFF says that from regional structures to provincial and national leadership, Mukwevho has contributed to strengthening the organisation and advancing its programme for economic freedom. It says Mukwevho possesses the political experience, administrative knowledge and revolutionary discipline required to lead Merafong City.
