# Eastern Cape premier, Oscar Mabuyane, has hailed the province’s positive 2024/2025 audit outcomes as a step towards cleaner governance. The Auditor-General of South Africa’s Provincial Financial Management Act audit outcomes show all 12 provincial departments achieved unqualified audit opinions for the first time. Six departments even earned clean audits. Mabuyane says this achievement reflects better financial controls; however, he added that compliance with legislation, as well as performance reporting, still needs tightening:
