# Public Works and Infrastructure deputy minister Sihle Zikalala will handed over the Welisizwe Vehicular and Pedestrian Bridge in Port St. Johns, Eastern Cape, today. The project forms part of the Welisizwe Rural Bridges Programme, implemented with the South African Defence Force. The initiative addresses rural infrastructure backlogs caused by heavy rains, connecting communities to schools and hospitals while creating local jobs and training. The bridges aim to improve service access and enhance resilience in vulnerable areas.
