Deputy minister Letsike calls for more funding for building inspectors

# Deputy minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Mmapaseka Steve Letsike has called for greater investment in building inspectors, saying the country cannot afford the cost of poor infrastructure and unsafe buildings. Speaking to 248 newly qualified inspectors in Gauteng, Letsike described building inspection as human rights work and urged graduates to reject corruption. The inspectors were trained through the Gauteng government’s Nasi Ispani programme and are expected to help improve service delivery, consumer protection and infrastructure standards across the province.
