# The Department of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities has welcomed the South African Human Rights Commission’s findings against controversial media figure Ngizwe Mchunu. Last month, he posted a video of himself online making derogatory remarks after photos of a gay couple getting married in traditional attire went viral. The commission found that Mchunu’s homophobic remarks amount to prima facie violations of the Equality Act. The department says it commends the commission for upholding the constitutional values of dignity, non-discrimination, and equality.
