# The DA in the Western Cape is urging residents to remain vigilant and assist authorities in protecting local schools from vandalism and theft during the holidays. Schools are closing today for the June/July break. The DA’s Leon van Wyk says during the March school holidays, 26 incidents of burglary and vandalism were reported at 21 schools across the province. He says the total cost of damages and losses amounted to 231-thousand-527-rand:
