# The DA in the Western Cape says it reaffirms its call for the devolution of certain policing powers to the City of Cape Town Metro Police Service and law enforcement authorities in the province. This comes after six people were shot and killed in Wesbank gang violence over the last three weeks. The DA’s, Andrew Bateman, says Cape Town and the provincial government must be empowered to conduct their own forensic investigations, and to work directly with relevant prosecutors to ensure airtight cases:
