DA welcomes positive development in Mpumalanga building its own forensic laboratory

# The DA in Mpumalanga has welcomed the provincial government’s plan of building its own forensic laboratory, to help address DNA testing backlogs and improve the efficiency of criminal investigations. Currently, DNA samples from the province are being sent to the National Forensic Laboratory in Pretoria for processing. South Africa currently has over 140-thousand DNA testing backlog due to resource constraints. The DA says the provincial government has already earmarked a site for the construction of the forensic laboratory.
