# The DA welcomes the Department of Home Affairs’ reduction of more than 19-thousand refugee asylum appeals from its backlog during the 2025/26 financial year. The party’s Adrian Roos says reforms introduced by Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber, including increased adjudication capacity and more frequent hearings, have improved the efficiency of the asylum system.
